The Group of the Italian Researchers on Embryonic Stem Cells (IES Group), which includes the laboratory of ESTOOLS partner Elena Cattaneo, held its 2nd National Congress in Rome on 12 July 2007. The Congress theme "Research on Embryonic Stem Cells: The reasons for a commitment to science and to the country" provided the platform for the launch of the group's Manifesto. The Manifesto outlines the reasons for the commitment of significant of intellectual energy and resources in Italy, as elsewhere in Europe, to research using embryonic stem cells.
