Andrew Smith, Director of the ISCR at the University of Edinburgh, was one of the invited speakers at the preview of the exhibition "Hope not Hype", held 5 October 2006, at the Scottish Parliament. ESTOOLS PI Dr Smith spoke about the top quality research carried out at ISCR, which is to be sustained in the new Centre for Regenerative Medicine, by bringing together world leading researchers in basic understanding of stem cell biology and clinicians of excellence. He described how all these efforts have the potential to provide effective drug screening methods, to model and understand devastating diseases (such as Parkinson's Disease and diabetes), and, in the long term, to provide revolutionary treatment for these diseases, through transplantation.
The ESTOOLS project completed its 4 years of activity. This website remains online as a reference archive.
