The Congress met in the elegant Refectory Room of the Deputy Chamber at San Macuto Palace. Since 1974 the Palace has been an official site of the Italian Chamber of Deputies.

The meeting was opened by ESTOOLS Principal Investigator Prof. Elena Cattaneo from the University of Milan. Among the numerous participating luminaries  from Italian science, ethics, politics and law were Prof. Demetrio Neri. member of the Ethics Advisory Panel to ESTOOLS. Also contributing was Andrew Smith, ESTOOLS Project Manager.
