EMBO conference series
Aarhus (Århus), Denmark, June 10-12, 2009
Following the four successful events (WCSB 2006, 2005, 2004, and 2003) hosted by Tampere University of Technology, Finland, and the fifth WCSB event (WCSB 2008) hosted by the University of Leipzig, Germany, the next WCSB event will take place at Aarhus University from June 10th to 12th, 2009.
WCSB aims at bringing together the various communities involved in the different aspects of computational systems biology research, e.g. experimental biology, machine learning, signal processing, mathematics, statistics, and theoretical physics. The scientific program includes invited plenary talks as well as regular sessions with contributed research talks and posters.
Progress in stem cell biology and medical applicationsThe Conference will deal with the basic concepts of stemness and cellular reprogramming which will be illustrated side by side with the related aspects of reproductive biology. Assisted reproduction will be seen both as source of different types of stem cells as well as target for innovative therapies. Tissue specific stem cells are sometimes seen as an alternative to pluripotent stem cells and the Conference will illustrate progress in two very active field:muscular/cardiac tissue and the central nervous system.
