A total of 54 scientific pictures (56 items) have been collected from ESTOOLS scientists across the European Research Area. The scientists selected their pictures under aesthetic considerations and may have modified them with computer software.
In the public’s side, it is an opportunity to have a practical “touch” with cutting edge science without any complicated aspect to understand. It is an art exhibition where stem cells pictures are displayed for intrinsic beauty and the fantasy they may produce.
For scientists the focus has been to encourage them to look at their everyday research from an external perspective. They imagine something beyond the obvious meaning of their photography - a cell or a fluorescent marker might become a fairy, an astronomical phenomenon or a mundane urban activity.
This is a unique opportunity for anybody (children, families, schools, individuals of all age and background) to become part of the connection between Art, Science and Society!
The exhibition, for which ESTOOLS makes no entry charge, will tour through to 2010.
